简介：BorninSanJuan,PuertoRico,BernieWilliamsgrewupinnearbyVegoAltaandbeganplayingguitarwhenhewaseight,eventuallystudyingclassicalguitarprivately.Hecontinuedtoconcentrateonguitarinhisteens,andconsideredithiscareergoalasastudentataperformingartshighschoolinSanJuan.Destiny,however,haddifferentplansforWilliams,whodevelopedanimpressivegameonthebaseballdiamondandwasdraftedbytheNewYorkYankeesafterhighschool.Hisinterestinmusicneverwaned,though,andhecontinuedtoplayguitar,oftentakingoneontheroadforawaygames.Whilemostofhismusicstudiesconcentratedonclassicalmusic,Williams'interestsincluded,amongothers,jazzfusionluminarieslikePatMetheny,ScottHenderson,andMikeStern.TheallstarYankeescenterfieldersteppedintothemusicarenain2003withhisLatintingedsmoothjazzdebutJourneyWithin.
