简介：JohnDouglas"Jon"Lord(9June1941–16July2012)wasanEnglishcomposer,pianist,andHammondorganplayerknownforhispioneeringworkinfusingrockwithclassicalorbaroqueforms,especiallywithDeepPurple,aswellasWhitesnake,Paice,Ashton&Lord,TheArtwoods,andTheFlowerPotMen.In1968LordcofoundedDeepPurple,ahardrockbandofwhichhewasregardedastheleaderuntil1970.Togetherwiththeothermembers,hecollaboratedonmostofhisband'smostpopularsongs.HeanddrummerIanPaiceweretheonlycontinualbandmembersduringtheperiodfrom1968to1976,andalsofromwhenitwasreestablishedin1984untilLord'sretirementfromDeepPurplein2002.On11November2010,hewasinductedasanHonoraryFellowofStevensonCollegeinEdinburgh,Scotland.On15July2011,hewasawardedanhonoraryDoctorofMusicdegreebytheUniversityofLeicester.
